PART 2 — THE PRICE OF BETRAYAL

The total amount exceeded six hundred thousand dollars.

I frowned.

—I never hired that company.

Rebecca slid another document toward me.

—It's registered in Chloe's name.

I felt my blood run cold.

-My sister?

Rebecca nodded.

—The payments were authorized using old administrative credentials.

I remained motionless.

I remembered that years ago I had allowed Chloe to work temporarily at my company.

I had given him limited access to some systems while he finished his studies.

Then he left, saying that the job was too boring for someone with his talent.

"Is it possible that I retained access?" I asked.

—We are investigating it.

I took a deep breath.

—Preserve all records. I want an independent audit

Rebecca nodded.

—I already contacted the compliance team.

That afternoon, Chloe showed up at the hospital.

She was wearing enormous sunglasses and the same green dress from her celebration.

He entered the room without asking.

—Elena, we need to talk.

I got up immediately.
