Tyler cleared his throat.
“Deb, I never wanted you to find out like this.”
I waited.
He continued.
“Rachel and I have been together for a while. And with the baby coming, we need to think practically.”
“Practically?”
He glanced toward Rachel.
“We think it makes sense for us to stay in the house.”
Rachel nodded enthusiastically.
“It’s already set up for a family. Your children are grown, and you don’t need all this space.”
I stared at her.
“You’re asking me to leave my home because you believe you need it more?”
She shrugged.
“I’m just thinking about what’s best for the baby.”
I looked toward Tyler.
“And you agree?”
He didn’t answer directly.
I suddenly understood something.
My husband wasn’t simply being unfaithful.
He had allowed another woman to believe she could move into the home I’d purchased with my father’s inheritance.
And he was sitting at my table, waiting for me to accept it.
