My Divorced Neighbor Told Me, “I’m Going to Steal Your Husband, So You’d Better Prepare for Divorce” — I Decided to Teach Her a Lesson Only Another Woman Could

Inside were a hammer, screwdrivers, batteries, lightbulbs, a jar opener, a home-repair manual, and a list of local handymen.

“Now you don’t need my husband every time something breaks.”

The neighbors laughed nervously.

Vanessa tried to brush it off.

“I was joking.”

“No, you weren’t. You sat in my kitchen and told me you planned to take my husband.”

The laughter stopped.

Irvin walked over and put his arm around me.

“Claire’s right. Stop calling me for things around your house.”

We went home.

I thought that was the end.

It wasn’t.

Soon, complaints began appearing. Then an official letter arrived saying my home bakery had to stop operating because the converted garage had never received final approval for commercial use.

I had permits and had passed inspections, but the garage itself had a paperwork problem.

Vanessa had found a real weakness.

I had wedding cakes and corporate orders scheduled, and suddenly my ovens were useless.

That evening, Vanessa appeared at our door with a bottle of wine.

“Tell everyone you lied,” she said. “Apologize publicly, and I’ll stop.”

“No,” I said.

“You have until tomorrow.”

She left.

Irvin and I argued that night.

She was threatening something real, and we didn’t know how far she would go.

Then Vanessa began sharing screenshots of messages between herself and Irvin, making them look flirtatious.

I was furious.

“You knew she was flirting. Why did you keep helping her?”

Irvin looked down.

“Because I had no interest in her. I thought that made it obvious.”

“It was obvious to you. That wasn’t enough.”

A few days later, a customer canceled a major wedding cake after hearing about the bakery.

That was when I knew this had gone too far.

I wanted to publish every message and expose Vanessa.

Irvin refused.

“We fix the garage, stabilize the bakery, and stop giving her more of our life.”

Then Vanessa sent another message.

Last chance. Apologize publicly at the HOA meeting.

Irvin compared her screenshots with the original conversations.

Then he found something important.

Vanessa had cropped his replies.

She had shown:

“Wish I had a man like you.”

But his full response said:

“You’ll find one. I already have the woman I want.”

Another message said:

“You’re the only man I can rely on.”

His complete reply was:

“You need to stop saying things like that. Claire is my wife.”
