Karen set down the book in her hand.

Michael’s jaw tightened.
“So it’s true.”
“It’s my personal life.”
“He’s ten years younger than you.”
“I’m aware of our ages.”
“He was practically raised in our house.”
“And now he’s an adult.”
Michael glanced around the bookstore.
The Secret Michael Was Desperate to Hide
Michael glanced around the bookstore, his expression growing colder with every passing second.
“So this is what you’ve been doing with your life,” he said. “Playing shopkeeper and dating my son’s best friend.”
Karen slowly closed the book in her hands.

He laughed bitterly.
“You really think this is going to work? You and Alex? What happens when people find out? What happens when Daniel’s friends start asking questions?”
