For a second, neither of us spoke.
Then everything hit at once.
We grabbed our bags, left everything else behind, and rushed out of the Airbnb without even turning the lights off.
Sitting in the car, my hands were still shaking.
“This isn’t normal,” my wife said. “This is illegal.”
She was right.
I immediately opened the app and wrote a review, exposing everything—what we found, where it was hidden, warning others not to stay there.
I hit “post.”
A few minutes later, my phone buzzed.
A reply.
From the host.
I opened it.
“You fool, this is…”
I frowned.

I tapped to read the full message.
“…a motion sensor, not a camera.”
I blinked.
My wife leaned closer.
“What does it say?”
I read it again, slower this time.
The host continued:
