More tests. More experts. Words I never needed to understand before.

They talked about treatment plans. Options. The urgency.

But all I could see was my daughter sitting in that hospital bed—small, tired, scared.

This is not a teenager having a "nervous breakdown".

A child who had asked for help.

And his father…

I called Robert.

At first, I didn't understand it.

Then he remained silent.

This kind of calm arises when reality finally breaks through denial.

He arrived at the hospital an hour later.

He didn't say much.

He simply looked at Maya.

And for the first time since the beginning of all this… I had no explanation.

No layoffs. Nothing is certain.

Total silence.

What I learned too late

There's something nobody tells you about being a parent.

You think you'll always know when something is really wrong.
