It's not noisy. It's simply... firm.

Everyone remained silent.

My stepmother opened it.

A uniformed man was standing there.

Upright posture. Serious expression.

The room changed instantly.

He asked about me.

He handed me an envelope.

Inside were documents. Official. Authentic.

My father had arranged things before he died.

Support. Protection. A future he made sure I had, no matter what happened after he left.

I didn't cry.

Not at that time.

I simply held the papers and felt something stir inside me.
